2016 Budget Hearing Minutes
November 11, 2015
Chairman Wayne Ace called the 2016 Town of Oregon Budget Hearing to order on November 11, 2015 at 6:00 pm. There were thirteen residents in attendance and Clerk Denise Arnold.
Clerk Arnold gave a detailed explanation of how the levy limit is calculated. The 2015 Levy Limit payable in 2016 is increasing due to the loan payments that were made this year. There were loan payments totaling $116,819. They were as follows:
OAFED-Village of Oregon $31,019.
OAFED-Town of Dunn $ 8,121.
Brooklyn Fire/EMS $11,595.
Plow Truck Purchase 1/1/15 $66,083.
Total 2015 Loan Payments $116,819.
A review of the full 2016 budget was shared by Clerk Arnold. A new truck for approximately $80,000 will be purchased. Improvements to the Town Hall will be conducted, new flooring installed and painting completed. Questions from the residents in attendance were addressed.
Motion made by Beth Cox and seconded by Fred Clark to approve the total 2015 Highway Expenditures pursuant to Section 92.03 (2)(a) of Wisconsin State Statutes. Motion carried.
Motion made by Josh Nordstrom seconded by Chris Johnson to approve the elected official salaries. Motion carried.
Motion made by Beth Cox and seconded by Steve Root to approve the Tax Levy for 2015 payable in 2016 in the amount of $942,873. Motion carried.
Chairman Ace inquired if there were any other business that was not listed on the Budget Hearing Agenda. Chris Johnson wanted to recognize the great job the Public Works Department has done with snow plowing and lawn mowing over the last year. Johnson as mentioned how organized the Clerk’s Office Staff operates.
Motion made by Josh Nordstrom and seconded by Chris Johnson to adjourn the 2016 Town of Oregon Budget Hearing at 6:30 pm. Motion carried.
