2014 Budget Hearing
Special Meeting of the Electors
November 20, 2013
Chairman Darryl Weber called the 2014 Town of Oregon Budget Hearing to order at 6:00 pm on Wednesday November 20, 2013. There were eight residents present and Clerk Denise Arnold.
Clerk Arnold presented the budget worksheet and hearing agenda. Notable budget items included were an increase in public works expense in anticipation of a large equipment purchase and also the possible usage of $54,590 in surplus funds. The local mill rate would change from 2.28342 to 2.28959.
Resident Jerry Jensen inquired about road funds for the coming year. Clerk Arnold reported that the 2014 State Highway Aid would be approximately the same as last year. The 2014 State Highway Aid is $111,524 which is an increase of $64 from the prior year.
Chair Weber closed the public hearing.
Chair Weber called the Special Town of Oregon Meeting of the Electors to order.
Motion made by Van Kampen and seconded by Johnson to approve highway expenditures over $5,000 per mile. Motion carried.
Motion made by Johnson and seconded by Clark to approve the elected official’s salaries at their current rate with no increase. Motion carried.
Motion made by Van Kampen and seconded by Root to approve the Tax Levy for 2013 taxes payable in 2014 in the amount of $853,233. Motion carried.
Motion made by Johnson and seconded by Van Kampen to change the Treasurer position from elected to appointed per Wisconsin State Statute 60.12(3) this change will take effect at the April 7, 2015 Election. Motion carried.
Motion made by Ace and seconded by Clark to adjourn the Special Meeting of the Town of Oregon Electors at 6:20 pm. Motion carried.
