MINUTES SUBJECT TO BOARD APPROVAL
Chair Darryl Weber called the 2008 Public Budget Hearing to order at 6:04 p.m. with the following board members present Chris Johnson, Pen Beasley, Phil Van Kampen and Clerk, Denise Arnold.
The Clerk highlighted the expenses and revenue for the year of 2007 and explained the 2008 projected budget. The Fire and EMS budgets have been increased which is still complicated by the 2007 Department of Revenue error. Fuel expenses have increased and major road work was over budget. All salaries were below budget, along with legal expenses. The local levy limit was increased by 3.8%. The recycling center did not lose money in 2007. Van Kampen explained that 25% of the Franchise Fee paid by Charter Cable will be reimbursed to the Village. Building permit revenue was up however the building inspector expense was higher due to the duplication between the former building inspector and the new Building Inspector Brian Burkeland. Motion made by Van Kampen seconded by Beasley to adjourn the Budget Public Hearing. Motion carries.
Motion made by Lee Christensen and seconded by Sharon Christensen to approve highway expenditures over $5,000. per mile. Motion carries.
Motion made by Sharon Christensen and seconded by Phil Van Kampen to maintain the same elected official's salaries for the Town Board Supervisors. Motion carries.
Motion made by Chris Johnson and seconded by Pen Beasley to approve the 2007 Tax Levy of $784,765 payable in 2008. Motion carries.
Motion made by Phil Van Kampen and seconded by Pen Beasley to approve the purchase of the property adjacent to the Storytown Cemetery currently owned by Mr. Robert and Christine Dicke for the cost of $1,000. and four gravesites. Motion carries.
Chair Weber inquired if any other business was necessary. There being none the Chair requested a motion to adjourn.
Motion made by Van Kampen and seconded by Beasley to adjourn the 2008 Public Budget Hearing. Motion carried.
