The first regular board meeting for the Town of Oregon was held on Tuesday, January 4, 2005 at the Town Hall, 1138 Union Rd. Oregon, WI 53575. The meeting was called to order at 7 p.m. by Chairperson, Gerald Jensen, with Supervisors: Darryl Weber, Wayne Ace, Rick Andersen and Pen Beasley present. No Board member absent. There were 8 other persons in attendance.
MMS/Andersen-Weber to approve the minutes as read. Motion carried. MMS/Weber-Ace to accept Treasurer, Rhonda LaFlash’s, report. Motions carried. Vouchers for $2,172,935.30 were approved.
MMS/Weber-Ace to approve Rezone #9175 (A-1Ex to C-1), submitted by Paul Morrison. The approval is limited to 10.13 (j) Woodworking shops with sales associated with woodworking. Motion carried. Paul Morrison withdrew Rezone #1933 which requested a rezone for a limited family business. The Plan Commission recommended approval of this rezone.
Weber reported that questions at the Plan Comm. included Doug Nelson with questions regarding a split and an air strip and Tom Holmes requested a variance to allow the existing driveway at 6085 Purcell Rd. Clerk reported that the Village of Oregon has passed an ordinance annexing a lot owned by Oregon Business Center west of the RR tracks on Netherwood Road
Jensen reported on the status of Union Road for improvement in 2005. He has met with Inter-Com and Pam Dumphy, Dane Co. Hwy. (28 ft. mat with 3 ft. shoulders).
Discussion on contract of Appointed Clerk and a committee to review resume applications. MMS/Andersen-Weber to have Klahn and Beasley compile application and position description.
Mark O’Brien, rep. Brooklyn Fire-EMS, reported on the proposed building for the District. MMS/Andersen-Weber to allow approval up to $1.8 million. Motion amended to approve up to $2 million. Motion passed unanimously.
Cable Committee is planning to meet yet this month. Jensen to check with Neil regarding our Comprehensive Plan and Rezones for Greenfield, Adili and Brashi. Lighting bids to be requested as soon as the Site Plan Ord. is ok’d by our attorney. MMS/Weber-Andersen to allow the neighbors of Greenfield/Wright a Public Hearing be set for Jan. 18th if agreeable with the petitioners.
Brad Bastian and Donna Gartzke requested in writing a refund of their taxes for illegal taxes. MMS/Weber-Andersen to refund by amount calculated by Assessor and Clerk. Motion carried.
Residents questioned weight limit signs as posted. MMS/Ace-Weber to add "local delivery exempt" to the signs. Motion carried.
