The parking lot at the Town Park was vandalized. The Dane County Sheriff’s department came out to investigate the incident. Steve estimated the cost to fix was $300-400. There were derogatory comments written towards a Village police officer that used to be the liaison officer at the Oregon High School. The incident happened on the evening of Wednesday, November 4th. The town road crew has sealed coated over the graffiti. The constable was notified.
Steve reported that the brush cutter works really well. It was used on the trails at the Town Park and Bicentennial Park. The trail timbers at the Town Park have been removed to facilitate the brush cutter through that area. Dave Frankson wants to organize a time to install wood chips. Steve and Josh are looking at the first week of December, but will arrange with public works crew.
The Town Park sign and the “Dogs on Leash” signs have been installed. Arlan Kay has agreed to design a walk in entrance off of Sheil Road for the Town Park. He will redesign the area to allow for pushing of the snow, drainage and for the entrance to remain open in the winter. The design will be presented sometime in early spring.
The trails at the Bicentennial Park have been cut. The sumac and dead trees will be cut soon. The scouts are planning to organize a burn.
Kennedy Park is looking fine. Steve will obtain a survey estimate in early spring.
There is interest from a group of individuals to install disc golf at the Raven Oaks Park. There is some funding available. Steve will meet with the group in early December.
Steve will be approaching the boy scouts about Eagle Scout projects available at the town.
Steve is working on the creation of a marked bike trail that will connect the Windridge/Sheil subdivision to the Village. Steve has been talking with the Village of Oregon and Dane County. Steve plans for the trail to go from the Sheil subdivision, through the Town Park, right onto Glenway, left onto Locust Grove, then on Union turning left into the Anderson Park parking lot. This would allow for those subdivision to get into the Village. Steve will be meeting with the county in January.
The Town Board would like to borrow $65,000 from the park funds at an interest rate of 2.50 or 2.75%. The money will be used to purchase a vehicle for the town. The one ton truck will be replaced with a vehicle that can provide additional uses. The monies will be paid back within the year. Josh moved to adjourn and Bob seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Steve will have a group stain the gazebo at the town hall this spring.
