TOWN OF OREGON PARK COMMITTEE
Monday May 12, 2014 @ 6:30pm
Present: Steve Root, Bob Johnson, Josh Nordstrum, Allen Miller & Jeff Nelson
The meeting was called to order.
The minutes from the previous meeting were tabled to next month.
Eagle Scout candidate Mike Lucas had a workday on Saturday with about 20 people in attendance, 6-8 people were from the rope pullers group. There are about three-quarters of the station poles in place. Mike will have another workday on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at noon. He is hoping to finish on that date. The rope pullers also have their pole up, but is not anchored yet. They will also paint the apparatus.
On Wednesday afternoon Steve is meeting with Eagle Scout candidate George Jewel who is looking at possible trail improvement at Bi-Centennial Park.
The town board approved the bid from Nicholas Tree Service for cutting deadwood at the Town and Bi-Centennial Park. Nicholas is scheduled three weeks out, so it will be about the end of May before the work will be completed.
Steve received a bid of $1,000-1,200 from Thom Grenlie to survey the south boundary of Kennedy Park. The town board approved the cost of the survey. Once the survey is completed, the road crew can get the area cleaned up.
Steve would like a park committee member to attend The Friends of Anderson Park meeting on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Josh plans to attend. Steve would like Josh to report at the next park board meeting.
On Thursday, May 15 at 9:30 a.m. Steve will be meeting with two representatives from the Wisconsin DNR at the Town Park. They will tour the park as part of monies received from the park grant. The DNR has issued the town’s last extension for submitting the paperwork for reimbursement of funds for phase II development. Steve has a deadline of the end of July for submittal. Steve is trying to obtain missing reports from Eagle Scout projects that were done at the park. There were five Eagle Scout projects completed at the park and those projects can be submitted as work in-kind toward the town’s contribution of matching funds for the grant.
Steve and Josh set-up a meeting date of Friday, May 30th at 1:00 p.m. to tour the town parks. The group will meet at the Hillcrest Park.
Steve has not heard from Eagle Scout candidate Jeremy Bono about the final plans for the gazebo at Bi-Centennial Park. The park committee still needs to approve his final plans. Steve said there are three possible Eagle Scout projects in the works at the town.
The next meeting will be held on Monday, June 16, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. Josh will not be able to attend.
Al moved to adjourn and Josh seconded the motion. Motion carried.
