Monday October 14, 2013 @ 6:30pm

Present:  Steve Root, Allen Miller, Bob Johnson, Jeff Nelson

The meeting was called to order.

The minutes from the previous meeting were read and were approved as read.

Steve has not signed off on Jeremy Bonno’s Eagle Scout project yet, so apparently he must be waiting for troop approval.  Steve has signed off on Mike Lucas’s project, but he is still waiting for council approval.  In the meantime Mike did mark the grass with the number of the exercise stations.  Steve reviewed the markings and will request that station number 9 be moved because it is too close to the property line.

The rope pullers have removed all the old apparatus at Kennedy Park, cleaned up the site, tilled the ruts and will be planting grass seed.  They dug the hole for the new apparatus and covered the hole with something heavy.  The rope pullers are there Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.   Steve instructed Mike Lucas to contact the Richardson’s for their input.  Both the rope pullers and the Richardson’s are willing to help out on the work day.  The town will provide the woodchips.

Steve toured most of the parks and they look nice.  Raven Oaks Park looks great.  The grass is up at Della Park and the neighborhood is planning a spring get together which would include an invite for all the park board members.

Steve discussed making a recommendation to the Town Board to use the Impact Fee Funds of approximately $4,000 to cover the construction costs at Della Park.

Steve is going to contact an arborist to go through the Town Park to give an estimate for tree trimming and removal of limbs across the trails.  In the past, the town has used Nicholas Tree Service.  There is graffiti on the picnic tables at the Town Park and Steve will sand the tables.  Steve will also have the picnic table moved from the parking lot to the grassy area.  Steve has not walked the trails at the Bi-centennial Park, but there are two park benches missing.  Steve believes the benches are still in the park and can replace them if not found.

Steve plans to attend the Friends of the Anderson Park meeting on Thursday.  This week the town road crew will install the culvert for the driveway into the park.

The board discussed the survey done at Kennedy Park and the shed that is on the park property.  The shed also contains a utility box inside it.

Steve Root discussed the bike path in Village of Oregon.  There is a way for the town to connect to the bike path.  Steve has made contact with Peterson and Torhorst about possible long-term easements for a bike path however the communication is on-going.  The town board put $4,000 in the budget for Transportation and Recreation.

The park committee discussed the Lycon project in the Village of Oregon.

Steve discussed the change in treasurer’s position and that he has made a request to separate out the park funds from the general town funds.  He will have a report to show the committee next month.

Raandi Schmidt has resigned from the park committee and there is an open seat.

Allen moved to adjourn and Jeff seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Respectfully submitted,

Steve Root
