Monday November 15, 2010 @6:30pm
Present: Steve Root, Janine Jensen, Mark Brylski, Bob Johnson
Also present: Chris Johnson, Garrett Frankson
The meeting was called to order by Steve Root.
The minutes from the previous meeting and non-meeting were read and approved.
Garrett reported on his Eagle Scout project for the gazebo at the Town Hall. The committee had previously approved a budget of $1816.88, but Garrett spent $1770.44 for the gazebo. There was a total of 6 work days (4 official and 2 unofficial), totally 301 man hours. There were 10 parents and 25 scouts available. The project did take more days than originally planned, with the roof taking the longest. They added supports to the plywood on the roof. The final plans were designed by the scoutmaster. At the end of his report, Steve requested that Garrett attend the next Town Board meeting on December 7th to make his presentation. The committee also asked that Garrett be certain to add his plaque to the board in front of the Town Hall.
After Garrett left, the committee decided to have a small plaque made and placed on the gazebo in recognition of the tremendous amount of work involved in the Eagle Scout project. The plaque will be made of brass or some other type of metal. Mark moved to approve this decision and Bob seconded the motion.
Unfortunately, there were no other Eagle Scout candidates that appeared at the meeting. The one candidate that the committee is waiting to hear from is the project that involves new trails in the Bicentennial Park, after it has been surveyed. The second project involves new benches at the Town Park, which Steve showed the committee. It is still hoped that the benches will be installed by next spring.
The cost of the surveys of the parks is still being determined. Once the boundaries have been set, Steve will be contacting the tree service to deal with the dead trees. It is hoped that the survey will be completed by the December meeting.
Steve has been in contact with Kathy Esch, who is not concerned about the linden trees in the parks. In her opinion, they appear to be growing normally. She has walked the parks and done some tree trimming. She has even removed some of the initial stakes. In her opinion all of the trees that were not vandalized are doing well, and she hopes even those trees will take off.
Steve reported that he had received a phone call from a neighbor of the Ravenoaks Park. This individual reported that a neighbor has been cutting wood in the park, but since the survey has not been completed, it is unknown whether the trees were actually in the park. When the survey is complete, some of the ATV trails may have to be blocked off.
The committee is not aware of any news relating to the Della Street project.
The next meeting will be Monday, December 6th, both at 6:30 pm.
Mark moved to adjourn and Bob seconded the motion. Motion carried.
