Monday June 14, 2010 @ 6:30PM
Present: Steve Root, Janine Jensen, Mark Brylski
The meeting was called to order by Steve Root.
The minutes from the previous meeting were read and approved.
Steve reported that the hot coal container has been taken to the Town Park. However, the sign indicating what the container is for has yet to be installed. There has not been any word received as to the timing of the tree cutting scheduled for the Town Park, which has been delayed but it is still anticipated to happen soon.
The Eagle Scout candidates will be invited to attend the next meeting. A couple of the scouts indicated that they were not ready to make their presentations to the committee at this meeting. At the next meeting, the scouts will be asked to confirm their continued interest in pursuing these projects. Steve distributed a proposed list of possible scout projects for review by the committee. The only additions were work to be done in the Della Street Park with the possible addition of a small gazebo there. The gazebo scheduled for placement at the Town Hall was not included, since the committee feels strongly that the Eagle candidate is currently working on that project.
Steve reported that he had a conversation with County Supervisor Jerry Jensen, who requested that sign restoration for the Arthur Sholts woods and the Bicentennial Park be added to the list of possible scout projects, which the committee agreed with. After the review, the committee recommended that the list be submitted to the Town Board at its next meeting on July 6th.
Steve reported that he received a phone call from the DNR regarding the committee's extension request. Steve was informed that the committee's DNR contact has retired and that is why no word has been received by the committee. Our project will be assigned to Mary Rothenmaier. Steve explained the basis for the extension request, which is the on-going Eagle Scout projects, which could be used for our general matching contribution. Ms. Rothenmaier has given Steve the verbal approval of the extension, and he is expecting the letter confirming this very soon.
Mark Brylski discussed the email that all committee members received from a neighbor of the Town Park. He suggested that since there is an interest from the residents, the committee needs to tap into the thoughts of our residents about a vision for our parks. With that in mind, the committee is considering putting a notice in the township newsletter about a town hall type meeting to gather data from residents about their ideas for our future park plans. The committee felt this was a great idea and will pursue this.
The next meeting will be Monday, July 12, 2010 @ 6:30pm.
Steve moved to adjourn and Mark seconded the motion. Motion carried.
