Monday February 22, 2010 @ 6:30PM
Present: Steve Root, Janine Jensen, Mark Brylski
Also present: Garrett Frankson, Daryl Weber
The meeting was called to order by Steve Root.
The minutes from the previous meeting were read and approved.
Garrett Frankson reported on the status of his Eagle Scout project. He has had some troubles creating a decent design of the gazebo. He is considering researching on-line or perhaps purchasing a book with architectural designs. He is still hoping for construction to begin late spring. Steve told him that if he needed to purchase a book of designs, he should add it to the cost of his project and the township would retain the book at the hall for future projects.
There were no other scouts who made an appearance before the committee. If there are no scouts to attend the March meeting, Steve will be contacting each of the two troops to evaluate the status of other projects.
Steve received an email from Mr. Dave Woods, who is offering to place bird houses in the Town Park and perhaps in other parks. Janine moved to approve the request and Steve seconded the motion. Motion carried.
There was discussion about the anticipated work on the Five-Year Plans for the Town of Oregon Parks, now that the Comprehensive Land Use Plan has been approved by the County. Daryl indicated that a plan could have a positive impact on the support of parks funding. The committee is also interested in getting additional information on the County's purchase of park land in the town. Mark made the suggestion that perhaps the committee would want to do a "targeted" mailing to neighbors of the parks to determine future interest in park improvements.
The clean-up date for the parks has been tentatively set for Saturday, May 1st, with a rain date of May 8th. Projects include wood chip placement and weed control in the Town Park, Kennedy Park and possibly Ravenoaks Park.
Steve reported that Kathy Esch has been out pruning some of the newly planted trees, but he has not heard anything recently from her about potential spring projects.
The committee had previously agreed to hire out the mowing of the parks for this coming spring and summer. However, the Town Board has decided to proceed with the potential hire of a third patrolman, which would eliminate the need to hire out the task. A committee formulated by the Board is currently creating a job description for this proposed position.
The next meeting will be Monday, March 22, 2010 @ 6:30pm.
Mark moved to adjourn and Steve seconded the motion. Motion carried.
