Monday September 28, 2009 @ 6:30PM
Present: Steve Root, Janine Jensen, Mark Brylski
Also present: Will Cummings, Garrett Frankson
The meeting was called to order by Steve Root.
The minutes from the previous meeting were approved.
Garrett Frankson, who is beginning to create his Eagle Scout project met with the committee. He is proposing to create a gazebo over the concrete pad and table near the Town Hall and create a pathway between the parking lot, Eagle Scout sign and the proposed gazebo. The path would be made of fine gravel, which would meet ADA requirements. The proposed gazebo roof would be solid to be weather-resistant. Garrett had met with Steve prior to the meeting to discuss the possibility of doing this for his project. He has not yet collected estimated costs, since he wanted to make the proposal to the committee prior to beginning this process. The timeline for this project would be spring, 2010. Construction material would be treated and stained wood, to match the present Project sign. Discussion was held as to whether solar lights should be part of the proposal, or whether a possible motion light would be better. This was tabled for future discussion. Garrett will get some cost estimates and appear again before the committee at its next meeting. Steve will then take the proposal to the Town Board for approval at the November 3rd meeting.
Steve re-affirmed that 10 trees have been ordered and paid for from Jung Center. The plan is to pick up the trees on October 14th. Harland, from the Town crew has agreed to help unload the trees and will auger the holes for the planning project. The crew will also assist with the mulching of the trees. The planting of the trees will be held on October 18th at 1pm, unless there is lightening.
There has been no communication from Chris Shrader about his Eagle Scout project for upgrading the Della Street Park in the Hillcrest neighborhood. Until the Eagle Scout candidate approaches the committee, the plan is in limbo.
The Town Board has approved the proposal that should an individual approach the park committee to trim trees/cut dead trees in the parks and can present proof of insurance, the individual would be granted permission. The permission slip has yet to be created, but will be soon.
The Town crew will be approached in the near future to discuss mowing needs for next year, and possible ways for improvement.
The next meeting will be Monday, October 26, 2009 @ 6:30pm.
Mark moved to adjourn and Steve seconded the motion. Motion carried.
