Present: Steve Root, Janine Jensen, Bob Johnson
Also present: Kathy Esch
The meeting was called to order by Steve Root.
The minutes from the previous meeting were read and approved as read.
Kathy Esch made a second presentation about proposed tree planting in Kennedy Park. She presented diagrams detailing the proposed sites and types of trees, which include Sycamore, Sugar Maple, Red Bud, Ash, and Pin Oak. These trees are all native to Wisconsin. The diagram presented was slightly modified from the first version to account for the new variety of trees. Ms. Esch reported that there are some Ash trees currently available at no cost and could be planted soon. The cost of the other trees included in the new proposal amount to approximately $200 each year for the next three years for a total of $600. Ms. Esch also indicated that she has verbal agreements from three neighbors who have agreed to help water and tend to the new trees. Bob moved to approve the proposal and Janine seconded the motion. Motion carried. The proposal will be presented to the town board at the next meeting.
Steve reported that he has not yet been contacted by the Eagle Scout candidate for work in the Bicentennial Park, but expects to hear very soon.
Steve reported that he now has a cost estimate for the barrier posts that the committee had recommended. Posts that are 6”X6” and are treated cost $21.84 each for an 8’ length. The total cost is estimated at $2227 plus a 4% handling fee. Steve will authorize the crew to proceed with the order. Steve also plans on ordering the fibermat on March 21st for delivery for the first work day. He will also contact the crew about the down trees in the Bicentennial Park.
Steve distributed a copy of an email that he and the town chairperson had received about an unfortunate incident in the town park. After much discussion, Bob moved and Steve seconded the motion to approach the town board with a request for gates to be installed at the entrance to Town Park Road. Motion carried. Steve also indicated that he wants to investigate the status of the police report about the vandalism.
The next meeting has been scheduled for April 17th at 6:30pm.
Bob moved to adjourn and Steve seconded the motion. Motion carried.
