Aug 30, 2006

A Public Test of the automatic tabulating equipment will be on Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at the Town Hall located at 1138 Union Road.  This equipment will be used at the Fall Primary to be held on Tuesday, September 12, 2006.  This public test is open to the general public and a demonstration of the Optic Scan voting plus the new HAVA machines (ES&S AutoMark) will follow.

As of January 1, 2006, all municipalities in Wisconsin require voter registration prior to a person being allowed to vote.  If you have never voted in the Town of Oregon, you will need to register at the Town Clerk’s Office during business hours or you may register on the day of the election.  Anyone registering to vote will be required to supply their Wisconsin driver’s license or identification card number.  If the elector has not been issued a Wisconsin driver’s license or I.D., they must provide the last 4 digits of their Social Security Number.  If you wish to register to vote on Election Day, you must bring proof of residency that you have lived at your present location for 10 days preceding the election.  Acceptable forms of proof of residency includes first class mail sent to you at your Town address, such as a utility bill, may be used.  Absentee ballots are now available for voters who are unable to be in the area on Election Day.  The Clerk’s Office is open from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Appointments can be made by calling the office at 835-3200.
