Guests Present: Jay McLellan, Population Protection Planner/Dane County Emergency Management

1. Meeting called to order 7:00 PM

2. Jay McLellan was introduced to the committee members. Mr. McLellan explained that he is the initial contact for Dance County for emergency services. A general discussion was held regarding the services he can provide through Dane County Emergency Management. Significant information was shared that if an emergency occurs that is beyond the township's capability to handle, the town's procedure is to call 911 and ask for Emergency Management personnel on call. This will activate the services necessary for aid from Dane County.

3. Discussion was held regarding the Adoption of the Annex to the Dane County Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan. The Wisconsin Emergency Management's review of the county Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan is complete and the plan meets all of the requirements for approval by FEMA. No revisions were necessary, except for some minor changes to the county portion of the plan, which have been completed and accepted. The plan has not been submitted to FEMA for final review and acceptance. The one step left to complete and finalize the plan is that the county and each participating jurisdiction pass a resolution to formally adopt the plan. Motion made by Johnson, second by O'Brien to recommend adoption to the Town of Oregon Board. Motion carried.

4. Discussion was held regarding the responsibilities of the committee chairman. Mark O'Brien volunteered to chair the committee. Bob Johnson volunteered to assist the chairman if necessary.

5. Bob Johnson informed the committee that Phil Van Kampen was able to convert our current emergency management plan into a Microsoft word document so it can be easily updated and modified in the future. This will be necessary as the plan is updated by the committee in cooperation with Dane County. The committee appreciates Phil's assistance with this.

6. The consensus was there is a need for secretarial assistance. Arrangements will be made to have services available for the committee meetings.

7. Meeting adjourned at 9:00 PM
