Aug 25, 2010

Present: Chairman Wayne Ace, Dave Hagemann, Chris Johnson, Robert Kujawa, Constable Gary Wackett & Town Chairman Darryl Weber

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 PM by Chairman Ace. The spreadsheet prepared by Dave Hagemann to assist in keeping sign inventory was reviewed. Several changes were suggested and Dave will modify the form and present it at the September meeting. In order to best utilize the sign inventory sheets, it was decided to print the inventory sheets on cardstock and to keep them in a legal size binder in the shop.

Chairman Ace reported that the new blue street name signs have been installed at the following intersections: Harding St. & Hwy MM; Netherwood & Fish Hatchery; Glenway Circle & Glenway Road and on Arba Road. Several committee members reported positive comments from residents. Robert Kujawa reported that the street sign at Arba needs to be turned parallel to the road No other blue street name signs will be ordered until the final decision is made by the DOT regarding the colors available and regulation font. The engine breaking sign for Hwy MM, the replacement street sign for Glenway (at Hwy A) and the stop sign at Glenway Circle have been installed.

Chairman Ace reported that Dane County has been assisting with bids for major road work due to the provisions required in the prevailing wage rule. Discussion and possible action on road work to be done will be determined following this meeting at the 7:30 Town of Oregon board meeting. Potential road work includes overlay for ½ mile of Marie Road; Whispering Oaks; Hillcrest Lane south of County Highway A to Echo Valley Road and Sugar Hill Road.

Discussion was held regarding a system to review and organize road maintenance. Chris Johnson informed the committee that the town clerk has a notebook that lists all major road work including the dates, costs, etc. Chairman Ace will check with the clerk to see how this information can be utilized by the Road and Traffic Safety Committee.
